Man rescued after spending night lost in Pr. George’s County woods

A 63-year-old man who huddled under a fallen tree for shelter during Monday night’s torrential downpours was rescued and in fair condition Tuesday in Prince George’s County, authorities said.

The man’s identity was not released, but Mark Brady, spokesman for Prince George’s County Fire and Emergency Medical Services Department, said the man had told his wife he was going for a walk Monday in Patuxent River Park along the border of Prince George’s and Anne Arundel County.

Authorities believe the man became disoriented in a heavily wooded area behind the stadium for the Bowie Baysox. When he could not find his way out, he sought what little shelter he could find.

The man was discovered Tuesday by hikers and airlifted to an area hospital by the U.S. Park Police.
