Man shot, wounded in SE Washington

A man was shot and wounded Saturday and a car plowed into a building -- apparently as part of the same incident in Southeast D.C., authorities said.

Emergency responders were called to the building in the 4200 block of Barnaby Street just after 5 p.m. for what was initially reported as an “accident with injury,” said Officer Paul Metcalf, a D.C. police spokesman. When they arrived, he said, they found a man had been shot and a vehicle had crashed into a building.

The D.C. firefighters’ union said the man was inside the car. Metcalf said he was conscious and breathing.
