John Delaney names top Hill aides

Rep.-elect John Delaney is filling out the upper ranks of his staff, announcing a roster of hires that includes a longtime aide to a fellow Maryland Democrat, Rep. Steny Hoyer.

Delaney, who ousted Rep. Roscoe Bartlett (R) from the redrawn 6th district seat last month is new to electoral politics and arrives on the Hill without a longtime stable of staffers in tow.

Delaney has hired John Monsif, who previously worked for Rep. Louise Slaughter (D-N.Y.), to serve as his chief of staff. Before joining Slaughter’s office, Monsif was on the staff of then-Rep. Christopher Shays (R-Conn.).

For his district director, Delaney picked an aide with Maryland ties — Lisa Bianco, who has served for several years as Hoyer’s political director. Will McDonald, who did media for Delaney’s campaign, will be communications director for the congressional office. And campaign manager Justin Schall will remain as an outside political adviser to Delaney.
