Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley will not be getting the low-carb pasta.
O’Malley (D) wound up on the losing side Saturday of a friendly wager with North Dakota Gov. Jack Dalrymple (R) over the outcome of the college Football Championship Subdivision title game.
With the 35-to-7 drubbing of the Towson University Tigers by the Bison of North Dakota State University, O’Malley will be sending Dalrymple a case of crab cakes from Baltimore-based Faidley Seafood.
If Towson had prevailed — as O’Malley boldly predicted in a press release on Friday — Dalrymple would have owed O’Malley a case of North Dakota-made Dreamfields low-carb pasta.
Instead, O’Malley is eating his words.
“He’s definitely disappointed … about the pasta and the loss,” O’Malley spokeswoman Nina Smith said Sunday.
Smith added that O’Malley congratulates Towson on “an incredible season, and he wishes both teams the best of luck next year.”
