Md. teachers union emphasizes collaboration

The Montgomery County Education Association is on the cutting edge of teacher unionism, working with the school board on spending proposals, rather than fighting it.

He left his full-time teaching job at the middle school when he became vice president of the Montgomery County Education Association teachers union in 2009, but he still spends every morning giggling with eighth-graders in a television production class as they put out the morning newscast.
