Beginning Feb. 27 and continuing through March 6, Metro will hold public hearings on plans to raise transit fares and fees.
The hearings begin at 7 p.m. but will be preceded by an open forum at 6 p.m. Metro asks that those who want to speak submit their name, address, telephone number, organization affiliation and the hearing number to the Office of the Secretary, Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority, 600 Fifth St. NW, Washington, D.C. 20001. Riders can also take a survey on the budget and fares for Metro at wmata.com/budget through 5 p.m. March 12.

Virginia Railway Express officials will hold hearings so riders can comment on the agency’s proposed fiscal 2013 budget, which proposes a fare hike averaging 3 percent.
