Twice bitten: Baltic Ave., 5000 block, Rockville, Sept. 4. Park police called animal services to report a bite incident in which a man said he was walking near fields when a German shepherd bit the man in the side. The dog had been leashed, but the owner was not holding onto it. When investigators arrived, the owner and dog had left. Police located the dog’s owner at home, and during questioning, the dog tried to bite the officer’s leg and boot. Animal services placed the dog under quarantine, and its owner was fined $500. The German shepherd was declared potentially dangerous under county code. The victim had suffered several bite wounds.
