Alice Timmins, real estate agent

Alice Timmins, 81, a former real estate agent with Merrill Lynch in Rockville, died July 4 at her home in Montgomery Village of complications from a stroke.

Mrs. Timmins entered real estate in 1979 at the old Robert L. Gruen realty office in Rockville. After a few years, she joined Merrill Lynch and worked there until 1985.

Her memberships included the Women’s Committee for the National Symphony Orchestra, the Antiques Club of Rockville and the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church leisure club in Rockville, of which she was a former president.

Alice Lee Peloquin was a native of Marlborough, Mass., and a 1951 graduate of Simmons College in Boston. In the 1950s, she worked as a chemist for Hercules Powder Co,. in Wilmington, Del., testing explosives. She moved to Rockville in 1967.

Her husband of 37 years, John F. Timmins, died of cancer in 1994.

Survivors include five children, Thomas W. Timmins of Gaithersburg, Nora A. Smith of Boise, Idaho, Anne Casey Timm of Sherborn, Mass, and Aimee C. Timmins and Alice L. Timmins, both of Montgomery Village; a sister; a brother; and six grandchildren.
