Amy B. Boswell, 89, who volunteered with Meals on Wheels in the Washington area during the 1980s, died Feb. 10 at the Brooke Grove nursing facility in Sandy Spring.
The Sandy Spring resident had a gastrointestinal hemorrhage, said her daughter-in-law, Kelly Boswell.
Amy Elliston Bell Johnstone was born in Kilsyth, Scotland. She came to the United States as a baby and grew up in Wisconsin, later becoming a U.S. citizen.
Mrs. Boswell attended nursing school in Fond du Lac, Wis., before serving as a Navy nurse during World War II.
Her husband, Dr. J Thornton Boswell, a retired Navy commander who helped perform the autopsy on President John F. Kennedy, died in 2010 after 65 years of marriage. A son, Bruce A. Boswell, died in 1974.
Survivors include a son, Gary A. Boswell of Olney; a brother; a sister; and a grandson.
