Clarence G. Simon Jr., 91, an Army colonel who in retirement was a Northern Virginia real estate salesman and broker, died of respiratory arrest July 26 at the Arleigh Burke Pavilion nursing home in McLean.
His death was confirmed by his daughter, Suzanne Bienert.
Col. Simon, an Annandale resident, served 29 years in the Army before retiring in 1968. He was an intelligence officer for most of his military career, which included duty in Europe during World War II. His military decorations included the Bronze Star.
Clarence Gabriel Simon Jr. was born in Lafayette, La. He settled in the Washington area in 1965 and had returned to Louisiana for brief periods to study at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, where he graduated in 1973.
After his military career, Col. Simon was a real estate salesman and broker with Century 21 real estate and Rowan Realty in Annandale for 20 years.
His avocations included making miniature dollhouse furniture for his granddaughters.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Rosellen Loges Simon of Annandale; three children, Suzanne Bienert of Peachtree City, Ga., Dr. K. Martin Simon of Northfield, Vt., and Steven Alan Simon of Asheville, N.C.; two sisters; and four grandchildren.
