Connie Archer, theater treasurer, dies at 77

Connie Arner, former treasurer and board member of Mount Vernon Community Children’s Theatre, died Dec. 17 at Glade Valley Center health care facility in Walkersville, Md. She was 77.

The cause was dementia, said her daughter-in-law Erika Arner.

Connie Rae Egge was born in Greensburg, Pa., and grew up in Frederick, Md. She graduated from Frederick High School in 1954.

She moved to Arlington in 1963, to Alexandria in 1971 and in 2002 retired to Frederick. In the 1980s and 1990s she was active in the Mount Vernon Community Children’s Theatre. For a period in the late 1980s, she was a mushroom sales agent.

Her first marriage, to Alvey D. Young Jr., ended in divorce. Survivors include her husband since 1969, Michael R. Arner of Frederick; a son from her second marriage, Stephen Arner of McLean; two sisters, Linda Egge Smith of Walkersville and Doris Egge of Frederick; and two grandchildren.
