Elinor Y. Sachse, a retired economist who worked at the World Bank, the Council of Economic Advisers and the Treasury Department, died Aug. 14 at her home in Washington. She was 71.
She had lung cancer, said her husband, Harry Sachse.

She had lung cancer, said her husband, Harry Sachse.
Dr. Sachse moved to the Washington area in the early 1970s and joined the World Bank as an economist. She specialized in forecasting the effects of the economies of the developed world on the economies of less-industrialized countries.
She left the World Bank in the early 1980s and later worked part time for the White House’s Council of Economic Advisers and the Treasury Department.
Elinor Barry Yudin was born in New York. She was a 1962 graduate of Barnard College in New York and received a doctorate in economics from Columbia University in 1969.
In her free time, she studied photography. Her pictures were included in exhibitions at such venues as the Levine School of Music. Her memberships included the Adas Israel Congregation, a Conservative synagogue in Washington where she also served as a treasurer.
Survivors include her husband of 34 years, Harry Sachse of Washington; two children, Michael Sachse of Washington and Marianna Sachse of Philadelphia; and three grandchildren.
