Elizabeth ‘Babe’ Kihn, Interior Department employee

Elizabeth “Babe” Kihn, 87, who worked at the Interior Department from the early 1940s until retiring from an administrative job in the late 1970s, died April 6 at Inova Mount Vernon Hospital in Fairfax County. She had a perforated bowel.

Mrs. Kihn, an Alexandria resident, spent a few years doing secretarial work for the National Rifle Association after leaving federal service. She also competed in NRA-sponsored shooting contests.

Elizabeth Alley grew up in Washington and was a 1939 graduate of Eastern High School.

Her memberships included the Order of the Eastern Star.

Her husband, Clarence “Clay” Kihn, died in 1999. She had no immediate survivors.
