Eugene J. Coghlan, passenger shuttle supervisor at Dulles

Eugene J. Coghlan, 71, a retired mobile lounge supervisor with the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority, died Feb. 4 at Reston Hospital Center. He was a Sterling resident.

He had complications from pneumonia, said a daughter, Victoria Coghlan.

Mr. Coghlan joined the airports authority in 1987 as a mobile lounge driver, ferrying passengers between the terminal and the airplanes at Washington Dulles International Airport. He became a supervisor in the 1990s and retired in 2005.

Earlier in his career, he worked for the cargo division of Pan American World Airways at Dulles.

Eugene James Coghlan was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. He served in the Air Force in the 1960s and received the Air Force Commendation Medal.

Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Joanne Torre Coghlan of Sterling; two daughters, Victoria Coghlan of Sterling and Shannon Longendyke of Leesburg; two sisters, Pat Ellis of Annapolis and Kathy Pyle of Avon, Ohio; a brother, Jim Coghlan of Asheville, N.C.; and six grandchildren.
