Eugene M. Donald, 97, who retired in 1972 from the Railway Mail Service, where he had been a clerk and supervisor, died Jan. 18 at his home in Annandale.
He died of congestive heart failure, said his great-niece, Tara Federici.

Eugene Moffet Donald was born in Harrisonburg, Va. He came to the Washington area and began working at the Railway Mail Service in 1939. He served in the Navy during World War II.
He was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Springfield and a Washington area organization for square and round dancing.
His wife, Meta Madeline Dellinger, whom he married in 1946, died in 2005. He had no immediate survivors
