Greg R. Zehnacker, owner of D.C. gay bar and nightclub, dies at 55

Greg R. Zehnacker, a co-owner of the Green Lantern, a gay bar and nightclub in Washington, died Feb. 18 while on vacation near Fort Lauderdale, Fla. He was 55 and a Washington resident.

The cause was a heart attack, said his father, Raymond Zehnacker.

According to an obituary in the Washington Blade newspaper, Mr. Zehnacker worked in Washington-area gay bars such as the Lost and Found and Pier 9 before starting the Green Lantern in 2001.

Gregory Robert Zehnacker, a Washington native, was a 1976 graduate of Robert E. Peary High School in Rockville.

Survivors include his partner of 18 years, Tom Tarantino of Washington; his parents, Raymond and Charlotte Zehnacker of Rockville; and a brother, Michael Zehnacker of Frederick, Md.
