John B. Goode, owner of men’s clothing store

John B. Goode, 80, co-owner of Powers & Goode men’s clothing stores in the Washington area, died of pancreatic cancer Feb. 19 at his home in Wilton Manors, Fla.

His niece, Jennifer Smith, confirmed the death.

John Barfield Goode was a native of Raleigh, N.C., and a Navy veteran of the Korean War.

From the mid-1950s until he sold the businesses around 1980, Mr. Goode operated Powers & Goode stores at two locations in downtown Washington and one each in College Park and Olney. He was a past president of the College Park Board of Trade.

In 2004, he moved to Wilton Manors from Washington.

Survivors include a sister.
