Marilyn Haughton, native Washingtonian

Marilyn Haughton, who was born and raised in the District and later moved to Detroit, died Jan. 17 at a hospital in Detroit. She was 58.

The cause was a pulmonary embolism, said her brother, Michael Selden.

Marilyn Elizabeth Selden was born in Washington and was a 1972 graduate of the old Immaculata High School. She attended St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Northeast Washington.

She received a bachelor’s degree in accounting in 1976 and a master’s degree in finance in 1980, both from the University of Detroit Mercy. She held managerial jobs with Unisys, Ford Motor Co. and Bristol-Myers Squibb. For the past several years, she was a supervisor at the Greektown casino in Detroit.

Survivors include her husband of seven years, Derrick R. Haugton of Detroit; and a brother, Michael Selden of Washington.
