Mary Castellanos, Postal Service employee

Mary Castellanos, 71, a retired bulk mail clerk for the U.S. Postal Service, died April 19 at her sister’s home in Tucson. She had chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

Ms. Castellanos spent about 25 years with the Postal Service before retiring in 2006. That year, she moved from Gaithersburg to Arizona.

Mary Margaret Castellanos was a native Washingtonian and a graduate of St. Anthony’s High School. She attended dance schools and once ran her own studio.

She was a member of the Humane Society.

Her marriage to Monte Alion ended in divorce. A daughter, Rose Alion, died in the early 1970s.

Survivors include six children, Theresa Holbrook and Chris Alion, both of North Potomac, Cecilia Jordan of Laurel, Lisa Cady of Reno, Nev., Joe Alion of Charlotte and Michael Alion of Clarksville; a brother, Michael White of New York; two sisters, Constance Caldwell of Silver Spring and Barta Barnum of Tucson; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.
