Maynard ‘Skip’ Gleason, draftsman, IT expert

Maynard G. “Skip” Gleason, a former draftsman for the old Control Data Corp. in Arlington County and an information technology specialist for Sprint Corp. in Reston, died Dec. 11 at a hospice in Great Cacapon, W.Va. He was 63.

The cause was complications from diabetes, said his wife, Rita Gleason.

Mr. Gleason, a resident of Great Cacapon, was a draftsman at Control Data from the early 1970s until 1986. He later worked for Sprint for five years before leaving on medical disability in 2004.

Maynard Guy Gleason was a Bethesda native and a 1970 graduate of Albert Einstein High School in Kensington.

He was a resident of Chantilly, Va., and a member of Chantilly Bible Church before settling in Great Cacapon in 2013.

Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Rita Barker Gleason of Great Cacapon; a sister, Helene Miller of Jacksonville, Fla.; and a brother, David Gleason of Wheaton, Md.
