Miriam ‘Betsy’ Hosszu, administrative assistant

Miriam E. “Betsy” Hosszu, 74, an administrative assistant for 20 years at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Parklawn Computer Center in Rockville, died Jan. 23 at Suburban Hospital in Bethesda.

She died of complications related to chemotherapy treatment for lymphoma, said her daughter Misty Bittinger.

Miriam Elizabeth Ross was born in Chicago and attended Ripon College in Wisconsin.

She had lived in the Washington area for 40 years and was a Rockville resident. She retired three years ago.

Her marriage to Joseph L. Hosszu ended in divorce.

Survivors include two daughters, Maria Eisel of Rockville and Misty Bittinger of Damascus; two brothers; a sister; and one grandson.
