Phillip L. Watkins, electronics engineer

Phillip L. Watkins, 86, an electronics engineer at the Naval Research Laboratory who retired in the 1980s, died March 28 at Collingswood nursing home in Rockville. He had congestive heart failure.

Phillip Lewis Watkins was a Gaithersburg native, a 1942 graduate of Gaithersburg High School and a 1950 graduate of George Washington University.

He served in the Navy in the Pacific during World War II and was a Navy veteran of the Korean War.

He was a Rockville resident.

Survivors include two brothers, Cleveland Watkins and Harold Watkins, both of Rockville.
