Robert Beach, businessman

Robert Beach, 81, the retired chief executive of Beaco, a Gaithersburg-based firm that represented plumbing manufacturers, died Nov. 19 at his home in Potomac.

He had pneumonia, said his wife, Marie Beach.

Mr. Beach founded his business in the mid-1960s. He retired and closed the firm in about 2000.

Robert Eric Beach was born in Hartford, Conn. He served in the Army after receiving a bachelor’s degree in business from the University of Connecticut in 1953.

Mr. Beach had lived in the Washington area for nearly five decades and belonged to Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Potomac.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Marie Boyle Beach of Potomac; four children, Ann Marie Tabb and Beth Humiston, both of Potomac, Meg Anderson of Gaithersburg and David Beach of Rockville; two brothers; a sister; and nine grandchildren.
