Sebastian L. Suriani, hospital administrator

Sebastian L. Suriani, who served as the executive vice president of the Southern Maryland Hospital Center in Clinton from 1979 until his retirement in 2004, died Dec. 13 at his home in Vienna, Va. He was 82.

The cause was cancer, said his granddaughter Annette Suriani.

Sebastian Louis Suriani was born in the Bronx. He was a 1952 graduate of Fordham University in New York and in 1970 received a master’s degree of business administration in hospital administration from Wagner College in Staten Island. He settled in the Washington area in 1977.

He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.

Mr. Suriani served for 35 years on the finance committee of St. Mark Catholic Church in Vienna and was a board of trustees member of the Southern Maryland Hospital Center. He was also a former president of Fordham University’s College of Business Administration Alumni Association and past secretary and executive vice president of the university’s alumni federation.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Mary Galbo Suriani of Vienna; three children, Peter Suriani of Ortley Beach, N.J., and Annette Suriani and Rosellen DelPrincipe, both of Fairfax County; two brothers; and four grandchildren.
