William B. Wooldridge Jr., 79, a licensed high-pressure steam boiler engineer who worked at the Shoreham and Capital Hilton hotels in Washington, died June 25 at his home in Gainesville of complications from a stroke.
The death was confirmed by a son, Joseph B. Wooldridge.
William Bryant Wooldridge Jr. was born in Newhall, W.Va., and was a Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War.
He worked at the Shoreham Hotel from the early 1960s to early 1980s and then spent an additional 20 years at the Capital Hilton. He was a member of International Union of Operating Engineers Local 99.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Barbara Janiszewski Wooldridge of Gainesville; three sons, Joseph B. Wooldridge of Stanardsville, Va., Paul D. Wooldridge of Elizabethtown, Pa., and Mark S. Wooldridge of Warrenton, Va.; two sisters; and nine grandchildren.
