One dog stolen, one dog abused in two incidents in the District this week

It was a bad week for dogs in the District. A shih tzu was taken from its owner Tuesday at gunpoint in Northeast, and a Chihuahua was slammed to the ground and injured Thursday in Southeast, authorities said.

A man in a car took the silver, white and brown shih tzu at 49th Street and Central Avenue, D.C. police said. The Chihuahua required emergency care after the attack in the 3000 block of Stanton Road, the Washington Humane Society said
