PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY

The following cases were received recently by the Prince George’s County Department of Environmental Resources Animal Management Group. Dog trapped in fence: 9200 block, Adelphi Rd., Hyattsville, July 11. An animal control officer removed a 3-year-old tan male Australian cattle dog/Labrador mix that was reported trapped between two fences behind a building. The dog was reunited with its owner the same day.

Trespassing on school property: 13500 block, Brandywine Rd., Brandywine, July 11. A person reported a large stray dog running loose on school property and preventing parents and children from exiting their cars for fear it might attack them. An officer picked up a 2-year-old female boxer mix. The dog was reunited with its owner July 13.

4-month-old kittens found: 6200 block, 67th Ct., Riverdale, July 12. A man called animal management to report two stray kittens that followed him home. An animal control officer picked up two 4-month-old domestic shorthair kittens, one male and one female. When not claimed, the kittens were adopted July 21.

Raccoon in a bottle: 7000 block, Noah Dr., Fort Washington, July 13. An animal control officer responded to a call about a raccoon with a bottle stuck on its head. The raccoon had to be sedated for the bottle to be removed. The raccoon was returned to the wild.

Yellow lab mix at Metro: 4800 block, Harvard Rd., College Park, July 14. A man reported a stray dog that he found running loose near a metro station. An officer picked up the 1-year-old yellow female Labrador retriever mix. When not claimed, the dog was taken to a rescue group.

Dog and cat adoption showcase:

The Prince George’s County SPCA/Humane Society is sponsoring cat and dog adoptions, noon-2 p.m. Saturday at PetSmart: 12020 Cherry Hill Rd., Silver Spring. The pets’ foster owners will answer questions and accept adoption applications for the animals. Adoption fees are $75 for cats, $180 for dogs.
