Snake in basement
8200 block, Redview Dr., District Heights, Sept. 26. A man reported seeing a snake in his basement. An animal control officer removed a healthy brown snake and returned it to the wild.
Black snake in kitchen:
4600 block, Calais St., Oxon Hill, Sept. 27. An animal control officer removed a healthy black snake from a woman’s kitchen and returned it to the wild.
Stray Shih Tzu: 2400 block, Iverson St., Temple Hills, Sept. 29. A woman reported finding a stray dog while walking in her neighborhood. An officer picked up a tan male Shih Tzu. The dog’s owner was located and both were reunited Oct. 3.
Backyard visitor: 2300 block, Vermont Ave., Hyattsville, Oct. 1. A woman reported finding a stray dog in her back yard. An officer picked up a 4-year-old white male Lhasa Apso poodle mix. The dog was reunited with its owner the next day.
Coiled snake found:
9500 block, Tam O’Shanter Dr., Upper Marlboro, Oct. 3. A man reported seeing a snake coiled up in his home. He said he put a cup over the snake and placed something on top of it to prevent the snake from moving away. An animal control officer removed a healthy black snake and returned it to the wild.
Pet adoption showcase:
The Prince George’s County SPCA/Humane Society is sponsoring cat and dog adoptions, noon-2 p.m. Saturday at PetSmart, 12020 Cherry Hill Rd., Silver Spring. The pets’ foster owners will answer questions and accept adoption applications for the animals. Adoption fees are $75 for cats, $180 for dogs.
