White American bulldog found: 1900 block, Wooded Way, Hyattsville, Dec. 2. A man was holding a stray white dog that he found running loose. He said he was unable to let his own dog outside for fear that the two animals wouldn’t get along. An animal control officer picked up the 4-month-old male American bulldog. The dog was reunited with its owner the next day.
Mother holds stray Chihuahua: 1100 block, Alhambra Ave., Accokeek, Dec. 2. A woman found a stray dog running loose. She said she was trying to hold the dog but that her child was in the car. An officer removed the 2-year-old black male Chihuahua wearing a blue nylon collar. The dog was returned to its owner Dec. 4.
Small dog in basement: 6000 block, Woodland Lane, Clinton, Dec. 3. A man was holding a stray dog in his basement. An animal control officer picked up the 3-year-old buff-colored male Shih Tzu. When not claimed, the dog was adopted Dec. 11.
Friend leaves dog: 3600 block, Monte Carlo Pl., District Heights, Dec. 4. A woman requested pickup of a dog that a friend allowed another friend to bring to her house and put in the back yard. The woman said the dog had been there for more than two weeks and that she was unable to get in contact with the friend. An animal control officer removed a 14-month-old red male Mastiff. When not claimed, the dog was adopted Dec. 15.
Stray dog in carport: 9000 block, Ridgewood Dr., Fort Washington, Dec. 4. A woman said that a thin and sickly looking stray dog was lying in her carport and would not leave. An animal control officer removed a 15-month-old tricolor male beagle. When not claimed, the dog was taken to a rescue group Dec. 14.
Cat and dog adoption showcase: The Prince George’s County SPCA/Humane Society is sponsoring cat and dog adoptions, noon-2 p.m. Saturday at PetSmart, 12020 Cherry Hill Rd., Silver Spring. Vaccination Clinic Sunday: The Prince George’s County SPCA/Humane Society is sponsoring a low-cost shot clinic for dogs and cats from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at 8210 D’Arcy Rd., Forestville. Rabies and distemper shots are $10. Microchip IDs are $25. Only cash and credit cards are accepted as payment. All animals must be on a leash or in a carrier.
