Mastiff mix picked up: 6700 block, Fairwood Rd., Hyattsville, Jan. 7. A man reported that a large stray dog was jumping over his fence. An animal control officer picked up a 1-year-old brindle male mastiff mix. When not claimed, the dog was taken to a rescue group Jan. 13.
Husky held in garage: 500 block, Dobbin Ct., Accokeek, Jan. 8. A woman said that she was holding a stray dog in her garage after she had found it running loose. An animal control officer picked up a 1-year-old white male Siberian husky. The dog was returned home Jan. 18.
Squirrel in trap: 13200 block, Warburton Dr., Fort Washington, Jan. 8. A woman reported catching a squirrel in a trap in her basement. She said that the squirrel was very large and growling. An animal control officer removed the healthy squirrel and returned it to the wild.
Dirty dog found in dumpster: 1900 block, Rochell Ave., District Heights, Jan. 9. A woman reported holding a filthy dog in a cage in her apartment after she had found it in a dumpster. An animal control officer removed the 2-year-old white male Chihuahua and poodle mix. When not claimed, the dog was taken to a rescue group Jan. 16.
Cat with bite wound: 900 block, Glacier Ave., Capitol Heights, Jan. 9. An animal control officer picked up a stray 1-year-old black male domestic shorthair cat with a bite wound under its right front leg. When not claimed, the cat was adopted Jan. 22.
Stray dog found in hallway: 7000 block, Hanover Pkwy., Greenbelt, Jan. 9. A woman reported finding a stray dog that was shaking and shivering in the hallway of her apartment building. An animal control officer picked up the tan female Chihuahua. The dog was reunited with its owner Jan. 11.
Forestville vaccination clinic Sunday: The Prince George’s County SPCA/Humane Society is sponsoring a low-cost shot clinic for dogs and cats from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at 8210 D’Arcy Rd., Forestville. Rabies and distemper shots are $10. Microchip IDs are $25. Only cash and credit cards are accepted as payment. All animals must be on a leash or in a carrier. Owners should bring an up-to-date rabies certificate. For information, call 301-262-5625.
Upper Marlboro low-cost animal clinic: The Prince George’s County Department of Environmental Resources’ Animal Management Division will sponsor a low-cost wellness and vaccine clinic from noon to 3 p.m. the first and third Thursdays at the Spay Spot Clinic, 3750 Brown Station Rd., Upper Marlboro.
