Goats on deck: 13800 block, Chestnut Oak Lane, Brandywine, March 1. A woman reported seeing stray goats on her back deck. She said the goats were on the deck all night and curled up and went to sleep. An animal control officer removed four goats and returned them to their owner that day.
Dog tangled in fence: 4500 block, Henderson Rd., Temple Hills, March 1. A woman called animal management to report a stray dog with its collar caught in a fence at the side of her garage. An animal control officer picked up the 3-year-old black male border collie. When not claimed, the dog was taken to a rescue group March 11.
Stray cat in basement: 2300 block, Barkley Pl., District Heights, March 1. Animal management received a call from a woman who reported finding a stray cat in her basement. She said the cat was acting wild and that she was afraid to enter the basement. An officer removed the 3-month-old white female domestic shorthair kitten. When not claimed, the kitten was taken to a rescue group March 11.
Off-duty officer reports stray: 3000 block, Raymond Ct., Fort Washington, March 6. An off duty police officer reported that she was stopped by someone who said they found a stray dog. An animal control officer picked up the 2-year-old beige male Shih Tzu. The dog was reunited with its owner the next day.
National Harbor pet adoption event: The Black Dog and the Washington Humane Society will host a dog and cat adoption day Saturday from 1 to 4 p.m. at its National Harbor store, 137 National Plaza.
