Kitten with fractures: 100 block, Rolph Dr., Oxon Hill, July 27. A caller reported that a kitten had been hit by a car and was unable to move. An animal control officer found a 3-month-old brown tiger-striped male domestic shorthair. The kitten was taken to an animal hospital and was found to have healing stabilizing fractures, which did not require additional treatment. When no owner came forward, the kitten was taken to a foster home to recover.

Boxer at pawn shop: Annapolis Rd. and 46th St., Hyattsville, July 28. A police officer reported holding a dog at a pawn shop. An animal control officer arrived and picked up a 2-year-old fawn-colored male boxer. The owner was located. After redemption fees of $195 were paid, the dog was returned home July 29.

Falling opossum lands in bathtub: 1000 block, Jansen Ave., Capitol Heights, July 29. A woman reported that an opossum fell from a hole in the ceiling where she was having construction done and landed inside the bathtub in her basement bathroom. An officer removed the healthy white opossum and returned it to the wild.

Too weak to eat: 2900 block, Norman Dr., District Heights, Aug. 2. Animal management received a report about a dog with an apparent injury to its back leg. The caller said that he had given the dog food and water and that the dog drank but seemed too weak to eat. An officer picked up the 14-year-old male German shepherd mix. The dog was reunited with its owner.

Cat and dog adoption event: The Prince George’s County SPCA/Humane Society is sponsoring cat and dog adoptions from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at PetSmart, 12020 Cherry Hill Rd., Silver Spring. The pets’ foster owners will answer questions and accept adoption applications. Adoption fees are $75 for cats, $180 for dogs. For information, call 301-262-5625 or visit www.pgspca.org.
