West Highland running the streets: 8400 block, Trumps Hill Rd., Upper Marlboro, Aug. 20. A woman reported saving a small dog that was running in the street between cars. She took the stray home and was holding it in her garage. An animal control officer picked up the 4-year-old white female West Highland white terrier. The dog returned home Aug. 23 after its owner paid $155 in fees.
Held in back yard: 3900 block, Warner Ave., Hyattsville, Aug. 21. A man called animal management to report holding a large stray dog in his back yard. An officer removed the 1-year-old black female terrier mix. When not claimed, the dog was taken to a rescue group Aug. 28.
Sticky snake: 500 block, Addison Rd., Capitol Heights, Aug. 22. A man requested help with a snake he found in his bedroom. He said that it got caught on a glue trap. An officer removed the healthy black snake and returned it to the wild.
Akita with bleeding paws: 2700 block, Hamilton St., Hyattsville, Aug. 24. Animal management received a report about a stray dog with bleeding paws in front of a laundromat. An animal control officer picked up the 1-year-old gray male Akita. The dog was taken to a veterinarian, where it was diagnosed with eroded pads on all paws. The dog returned home Aug. 26 after its owner paid $300 in fees.
Vaccination clinic Sunday: The Prince George’s County SPCA/
Humane Society is sponsoring a low-cost shot clinic for dogs and cats from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sunday at 8210 D’Arcy Rd., Forestville. Rabies and distemper shots are $10. Microchip IDs are $25. Only cash and credit cards are accepted as payment. All animals must be on a leash or in a carrier. Owners should bring an up-to-date rabies certificate.
