Prince George’s police arrest teen in Clinton fatal drive-by shooting

July 28, 2013

Prince George’s County police arrested a 19-year-old Clinton man in connection with an alleged drive-by shooting early Saturday morning that left an 18-year-old dead.

Darryl Sherwood Adamson Jr., of Sir Woodburn Way, was arrested at his home and was charged with first-degree murder for the slaying of Darius Trey Turner, of Brandywine, police said Sunday.

Turner was shot at about 2:15 a.m. Saturday as he was standing in a parking lot in the 6300 block of Coventry Way, along Branch Avenue near Joint Base Andrews, in Clinton. Police said a car approached Turner and a passenger opened fire, hitting him. Turner later died at a hospital.

Police are still seeking information on the car, a dark-colored, four-door sedan with dark tinted windows.

Travina Renee Salmond, Turner’s mother, said her son was in the parking lot after attending a party with friends.

“They were just teenagers hanging out,” she said.

Salmond said her son worked as an accounting manager and was saving money so he could attend computer school. She described him as “good-hearted.”

“Everybody loved him,” Salmond said. “He had a lot of friends.”

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit at 301-772-4925.
