County schools having math contests through March 22

Prince William County elementary and middle schools are having math competitions in grades three to eight through March 22.

The grade-level winners at each school will be eligible for the countywide Mathematics Challenge 24 Tournament in April.

Two county advisory committees to meet

The Prince William County Special Education Advisory Committee will hold its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Kelly Leadership Center, 14715 Bristow Rd., Manassas.

College financial aid
information session Feb. 9

Stonewall Jackson High School and the Virginia Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators will host Super Saturday, a college financial aid information session, from 9 a.m. to noon Feb. 9 at the school, 8820 Rixlew Lane, Manassas.

There will be free assistance in completing the federal financial aid form. There will be two workshops, at 9:15 a.m. and 11 a.m., explaining the federal and state financial aid process. Computers will be available for students and parents to apply for federal aid electronically.

Students should bring their Social Security numbers, driver’s licenses, 2012 W-2 forms, 2012 federal income tax returns, a list of untaxed income, current bank and investment records, and alien registration or permanent resident card, if applicable.
