Remains of two USS Monitor sailors are laid to rest
The remains of two Union sailors who died aboard the USS Monitor when it sank in 1862 but were discovered in 2002 on the sunken Civil War ship have been buried in Arlington National Cemetery.

Caskets containing the remains of two sailors who served aboard the USS Monitor leave the chapel for burial at Arlington National Cemetery. A brief memorial took place at the Fort Myer chapel, and the remains were then buried with full military honors.
