School and government closings and delays

Several school systems and local governments in the D.C. region have announced closings or delays due to weather conditions.

A huge winter storm is turning its fury on the Mid-Atlantic states after pounding the Midwest with snow.

The federal government and D.C. government offices are closed on Wednesday.

In Virginia, government offices in Arlington, Fauquier and Loudoun counties are closed.

In Maryland, government offices in Montgomery County are closed.

D.C. public schools will be closed both for students and staff.

In Virginia, schools closed on Wednesday include: Fauquier County, Prince William County, Alexandria, Arlington, Fairfax County, Loudoun County.

In Maryland, Prince George’s and Montgomery counties are among those that have closed schools on Wednesday.

Among the universities that are closed: University of Maryland, American University, Georgetown University, Howard University, George Washington University and George Mason University.
