Prince George’s County police have arrested a Hyattsville man in an attempt to rob an 80-year-old woman at a carryout restaurant in Accokeek this week.

Michael E. Brown, 24, is charged with robbery and assault in the Tuesday incident at Eastern Carryout in the 7000 block of Berry Road. Police say he tried to help a 25-year-old woman who first held open the door of the restaurant for the 80-year-old, then pushed her down and grabbed her purse.

The 80-year-old’s husband and a bystander tackled and restrained the 25-year-old — later identified as LeJean N. Lancaster — even as she bit both of them, police have said. Brown, they said, hit the bystander in the face, then ran away.

Lancaster was taken into custody at the scene, police have said. Brown, they said, was arrested Thursday in Montgomery County.
