Two dogs leave one injured in Northeast DC

Two pitbulls attacked several people in a Northeast Washington mall on Saturday morning.

Around 10:30 a.m., two police officers responded to the Hechinger Mall near the intersection of 16th Street and Benning Road.

An adult man was bitten in the face by one of the dogs and was transported to the hospital. Police said his injuries are not life threatening.

One of the two officers shot the dogs to try to stop their attack. A police spokesman said both dogs are alive and were taken by animal control.
