Shooting in Anacostia Sunday

One person was shot and seriously wounded Sunday night in the Anacostia area of the District, authorities said.

The shooting occurred about 8 p.m. in the 2600 block of Bowen Road, about one half mile south of the Anacostia Metro station. The circumstances could not be learned immediately.

The assailant was described as a young black man, from 17 to 20 years old, about 5 feet 6, with a dark complexion. He was w earing a white tank top and carried a dark backpack.

He was described as having a Philadelphia-style haircut, which can be characterized by a sharply defined hairline along the forehead and at the temples.
