Griffith Way, Oct. 20. A homeowner found an intruder in his home. The intruder fled out a back door and into woods. Nothing was reported missing.
Route 2/4, 2:13 p.m. Oct. 19. A wallet and a backpack were stolen from a vehicle parked at a store.
Bel Alton, 5:36 a.m. Oct. 18. An off-duty sheriff’s officer confronted a man who was attempting to steal an all-terrain vehicle from his home. The officer struggled with the man, and the officer’s firearm fell to the ground. The man grabbed it, but the officer was able to get back the firearm, firing it once and wounding the man’s leg. The man fled. A Waldorf man, 29, was charged in connection with 18 incidents involving first-degree assault, second-degree assault, reckless endangerment, burglary and theft.
Helen Fowler Pl., 12000 block, 2 p.m. Oct. 18. A Hughesville man, 42, was arrested in connection with an Oct. 11 fire at a single-family house. He was charged with first-degree arson, third-degree burglary and malicious destruction of property.
Port Tobacco Rd., 7900 block, Oct. 15 to Oct. 16. Piping was stolen from a vacant house.
Crain Hwy., 2000 block, 11:27 p.m. Oct. 20. A gas station was broken into; cigars and cigarettes were stolen.
Brightwell Ct., 1700 block, 7 p.m. Oct. 20. After an argument with an acquaintance, someone set a fire at a residence. A man, 52, was charged with first-degree arson, malicious burning, first-degree reckless endangerment and malicious destruction of property.
Manning Ct., 4:13 a.m. Oct. 19. A 1991 Mercedes-Benz was set on fire.
Shady Mile Dr., Oct. 23. A man who might have been using a shed at a foreclosed residence allegedly took a police vehicle after he was told to leave the area. A man, 31, was charged with theft, malicious destruction of property, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, driving while intoxicated and driving with a suspended license.
Charlotte Hall, 9:29 p.m. Oct. 5. Two people were stabbed in the parking lot of a convenience store. A third person was taken to a shock trauma center for treatment of a head injury. On Oct. 25, a Brandywine man, 37, was arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree assault, three counts of second-degree assault and one count of reckless endangerment.
Great Mills, Oct. 21. A student at a high school was allegedly sexually assaulted by two male students, one of whom reportedly forced the student into a bathroom. Two boys, 16, were charged with fourth-degree sexual offense, second-degree assault and false imprisonment.
Great Mills, Oct. 21. During a fight at a high school, two students assaulted each other. Two girls, 15 and 17, were charged with second-degree assault and disruption of school activities.
Steve Uhler Rd., 9:42 a.m. Oct. 15. During an altercation, a woman assaulted an acquaintance. A Hollywood woman, 19, was charged with second-degree assault.
Leonardtown, Oct. 17. During an argument at a detention center, an inmate hit another inmate in the face. A Waldorf man, 53, was charged with second-degree assault.
Bristol Ave., 6:30 a.m. Oct. 21. During an argument, a man assaulted a woman and a 5-year-old child with a knife. He also threatened the woman with gun. When officers arrived, they ordered the man to stop the assault. He reportedly refused, and an officer shot the man. He was treated at a hospital and released. A Lexington Park man, 24, was charged with three counts of first- and second-degree assault.
Lexington Park, Oct. 18. A man entered a home and threatened a resident at knifepoint. A Hollywood man, 30, was charged with first-degree burglary and first-degree assault.
Spring Ridge, Oct. 21. A middle school student hit a staff member in the face as he was being escorted to class. A male youth, 13, was charged with second-degree assault.
Park Hall, Oct. 19. During an argument, a man assaulted an acquaintance. A Park Hall man, 22, was charged with second-degree assault.
