D.C. night life guru Mike O’Harro looks back on an event-filled life.
1963 Michael G. O’Harro, a native Californian, came to Washington in 1963 as a Navy officer. Unsatisfied with the local party scene, he founded the Junior Officers Professional Association. Membership was $3 for men and free for women. Soon, JOPA was throwing parties in rented spaces all over town. Here, O'Harro, in uniform, escorts a Cherry Blossom Festival princess.
