Hosted by Sheryl Lee Ralph and Wayne Brady, the event raised funds and awareness for the U.S. Dream Academy, a national afterschool and mentoring program for at-risk youth founded by Wintley Phipps in 1998. Held at the J.W. Marriott Hotel in Washington, D.C., the black tie event was attended by Miss America 2013 Mallory Hytes Hagan, Chef Huda, Surgeon General vice Admiral Regina M. Benjamin, M.D., M.B.A. and Michael Melton. It featured a live performance by Grammy Nominated R&B artist Lalah Hathaway.
