Tide light rail opens in Norfolk

Hundreds of people came to ride Virginia’s first light rail train, the Tide, on its inaugural day.

Hundreds of people wait in line before 6 a.m. to ride the Hampton Roads light rail on its inaugural day in Norfolk. The system was so popular in its debut on Friday that officials announced they would give passengers even more time to ride the Tide for free.
