Coming up today in the D.C. region:

School security: Schools in the Washington area will have counselors and extra police patrols on hand today as students return to class following the Newtown shooting.

Inauguration: MARC train tickets to the presidential inauguration are set to go on sale at 8 a.m.

Virginia budget: Gov. Bob McDonnell is expected to present proposed amendments to Virginia’s $80 billion, two-year budget this morning.

I-95 tolls: Virginia’s Department of Transportation will hold a public hearing tonight on plans to add tolls to parts of Interstate 95.
