Coming up today in the D.C. region:

Maryland death penalty repeal effort: Relatives of murder victims are joining a rally in Annapolis this afternoon in favor of repealing the state’s death penalty.

Virginia General Assembly building: A meeting today will focus on the cost of repairing problems including asbestos and fire and safety code issues.

Nursing students: GWU and Virginia’s Community Colleges will sign an agreement today to make it easier for nursing students to transfer credits.

New Maryland delegate: Darren Swain is expected to be sworn in today to fill the vacancy left by Del. Tiffany Alston.
