4 Orange Line stops closing for weekend Metro work; single-tracking planned on Red Line

By ,

Metrorail work scheduled for this weekend will affect riders on the Orange and Red lines, with four stations closing on the Orange Line for work related to the Silver Line expansion.

Beginning 10 p.m. Friday, Orange Line trains will run only as far west as Ballston. The East Falls Church, West Falls Church, Dunn Loring and Vienna stations will be closed.

Shuttle buses will replace trains from Ballston to Vienna. Some buses will stop only at Ballston and Vienna, while others will stop at each of the affected stations. Riders who need to travel beyond Ballston should expect significant delays.

The stations will remain closed until the system opens Monday morning.

Red Line trains will single-track over the weekend between the Friendship Heights and Van Ness stations as well as between the Takoma and Rhode Island Avenue stations.

Work on the Green Line that was scheduled this weekend has been canceled.

Next weekend, buses will replace Red Line trains between NoMa-Gallaudet U and Takoma. The Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport stop on the Blue and Yellow lines also will be closed, and shuttle buses will replace trains.
