Two people shot, injured in Southeast D.C.

Two people were shot early Monday in the 4900 block of G Street SE, D.C. police said.

Police said the victims, a 17-year-old woman and a 20-year-old man, were shot just before 2 a.m. and were conscious and breathing when officers arrived.

They were taken to a local hospital for treatment of serious injuries, police said, and both are expected to survive. No details were available about the nature of their injuries.

Authorities have not released information about possible suspects or a motive in the shooting. The case remains under investigation.
