Two shot, one fatally, in Southwest D.C.

A man was fatally shot Wednesday night in a double shooting in the alleyway of a Southwest Washington housing complex, about three blocks from a police station, D.C. police said.

Officers responded to a courtyard area of the Greenleaf Gardens development in the 200 block of K Street SW, near the 1st Police District station, and found two victims about 9:20 p.m., officials said. A man was unconscious and not breathing, and a woman was shot in a hand, said Officer Hugh Carew, a spokesman.

Both victims were taken to a hospital, but the man was later pronounced dead, police said.

Officiails were not sure of a motive for the attack.
