At Woodlawn Plantation in Alexandria, Va., kids learn about where their food comes from, healthy eating, cooking and bugs.
July 10, 2014 Students attending Arcadia Farm Camp at Woodlawn Plantation in Alexandria, Va., race through the grounds. The camp, run by a local restaurateur’s organization, works to promote healthy eating, sustainable farming practices and to help kids understand where their food comes from. The month-long summer camp has a different focus each week, spanning the basics of growing food, the critters that form a garden ecosystem, lessons on eating seasonally and cooking skills for small chefs.
